New look, new features and a new spirit... yes we are back for good!
Purdafash has been revamped for a new season of participatory news making. Now citizens and journalists come together to create a social news network and build campaigns surrounding issues of core public interest. The new PHP version of Purdafash (the previous being Ruby on Rails) monetizes on drawing the skills of both the skilled and unskilled at news collection and dissemination.
The redesign was achieved through a process of continuous selection and negotiation of available technology. It has been long nights for the technical team. What looked amazing in initial mock ups was not particularly good when coded into HTML. Even our playing with color gradients did not help much, so we were back to the drawing board for a new design. Finally what came out was similar to what you see today at Purdafash. Ofcourse, there shall always be an attempt to grow and improve on all fronts.
Another realization was that just allowing users to upload their stories/problems was of no consequence unless the people came together to rally around those problems and help out each other. This made us put on our thinking hats and we decided to come up with a feature called ‘Campaigns’ which allows people to share a common platform on any issue highlighted by a particular news and interact in a much closer and faster manner.
We are keeping a list of all the feedback you are giving us and we will try to incorporate most of them whenever we work on a newer version. After all Purdafash is your website.
Personally, it has been an amazing experience and a steep learning curve to be on our own. There has been words of encouragement as well as sniggers of doubters, but we are still on the path that we chose for ourselves. From being covered in Mint and Deccan Herald to being recently featured on NDTV India... The ride has been really exciting and we are still going strong. I guess that is what matters finally.

Thus we are back.. and we are back to stay!!

i am glad toseeu guys doing such a great work on TV and m also thankful to NDTV to bring wonderful people in limelight so that peoplelike mecan benefit from them and resolve their issues.
I would like to light and issue here i am having in my marital life. I am married since 2006,u may think after so many years why issues now? i stayed with my husband only 4 months in 32 months of my marital life that too in bits n pieces.I contacted an NGO in Mumbai wellknown in resolving marital disputes rated A in websites and internet. Bapnu Ghar & Swadhar - Keshav Gore smarak trust,i contacted them and gave my case details in may 08 but till nov 08 they only wrote them a letter and called them via phone to come and meet them and resolve the matter but they very adamantly told the NGO's that take wahtever action you want we will not meet u - my married sister in law rules my husband and my in-laws and as per her directions they walk. In Nov when these NGO's said we can't do anything i contacted Special women's cell at kandivali police station but they have only wrote a letter to my husband to meet them nothing else they havedone till date, my husband seeks divorce from me reason his sister doesn't want me to be with him and also i didn't cook as per his desire on our wedding anniversary on 15th may 08, sounds foolish but that's fact and from then on i am living with my parents,i stayed with my parents from 29th jul 06 to 28th feb 08 and from 17th may 08 till date.My contact details - my email id is there if i get further contacted by you will be in position to give my entire 36 months history right from my courtship till date and also my wedding snaps, marriage certificate and more as per ur requirements. I request your help getting divorce is the most simplest and easy way to run from this situation going to police will also be easier though i don't know how much that will help me but i do not want divorce ,do not want my husband to spoil other girl's life,nor i want him to make fool of me they way he has used me like a tissue paper and get waya with it, i want him to re-unite with him not to punish him but make him understand marital vows and understand his responsibility towards me and his own family alongwith his relationship with his parents and siblings. my name is aasha parekh shah
